research
My research interest lies in the intersection between Visualization, Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, and Big Data. I develop advanced interactive visualization systems and machine learning algorithms to promote the understanding and communications between humans, machines, and large-scale data. Currently, I am working on the following topics:
Visual Analytics of Societal Applications.
I research how to combine automated analysis with interactive visualization to develop intelligent data-driven systems with human-in-the-loop to address society needs. My particular focuses are spatio-temporal data from cities and urban environments and time series data from large industrial systems (aerospace, energy).
Human-Centered and Explainable AI
I research how to enable machine learning transparency and interpretability for the domains involving high-stakes decision making (health, child welfare), by understanding ML usability challenges and designing and developing interactive visualization tools to help people confidently understand data-driven systems.
